Roles and Responsibilities for a Host Runner:
Food Runner:
- Running plates of food to tables when required.
- Follow Managers instructions.
- Knowledge of menu.
- Have a knowledge of food and any dietary or religious restrictions, including any accompaniments.
- Understand the implications of incorrect information.
- Assist waiting staff when required.
- Understand how to approach guests and make an offering.
- Understand how to serve and clear crockery, cutlery and glassware correctly.
- Perform calmly and effectively under stressful conditions.
- Confident to use a tray.
- Understand different styles of plated service.
- Professional, Flexible and adaptable to work where required.
- Display composure and professionalism at all times.
- Display a sense of urgency throughout service.
Buffet Runner:
- Replenishing Buffet items on request
- Identifying when replenishing is necessary.
- Have a knowledge of food and any dietary or religious restrictions, including any accompaniments.
- Understand the implications of incorrect information.
- Understand and be aware of rotation and replenishment of buffet.
Event Runner:
- Follow supervisor’s instructions.
- Ability to stand and walk for an entire shift.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs. via food or beverage trays or required equipment needed to perform specific job duties.
- Running stock/ equipment around event space
- Asked to complete Flow Training Modules in Food Allergens, Health and Safety & Food Safety level 1.
- Ability to work efficiently, safely and professionally.
- Safely transport items to and from kitchen.
Requirements:
- Attended training session in the Host Office.
- Knowledge of the 14 Allergens and their importance.
- Excellent teamwork skills.
- Asked to complete Flow Training Modules in Food Allergens, Health and Safety & Food Safety level 1.
- Smart, polite, professional and always well presented.
- Ability to walk/ stand for long periods.
- Ability to follow instructions from event manager.
Timekeeping:
At Host we take timekeeping extremely seriously. You are expected to be ready for work at the booking time sharp. Your briefing will be scheduled and a late arrival will affect the operation so please allow yourself extra time to get changed into your uniform as well as for unexpected travel disruption. We recommend you aim to arrive 15 mins early to your shifts to prevent complications. If you arrive late to work you may be sent home without pay. (1 minute past the shift start time is considered late).
